Jon Matthieu is an emerging exhibiting Australian multi-disciplinary artist , born and raised in metropolitan Victoria. His artistic journey began during VCE (High School) photography, laying a strong foundation for his craft. In 2025, Jon completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Photography at Deakin University’s Burwood Campus preceded by a Diploma of Digital Photography at Alison Online in 2024.
Primarily working in digital media, Jon’s practice focuses on storytelling and exploring the nuances of human experience through the lens of photography, filmmaking and light & projection; with an exploration in visual arts and theatre & performance.

Jon is currently exhibiting his Lonely Man (2017) silver gelatine photographic piece at the After Walter Hopps Exhibition at Platform Arts Geelong and recently finished exhibiting his Terra 2025 photographic series as part of the Kaleidoscopic Exhibition he co-curated at Box Hill Community Centre.
He has previously exhibited his photographic works untitled series #1 in May 2018 and untitled series #2 in October 2018 at Deakin University’s Phoenix Gallery as part of his student group exhibitions; underscoring his evolving talent and potential in the realm of commercial photography. Jon’s unique perspective and creative drive position him as an exciting emerging photographer with a promising future.
Stepping out from behind the camera, Jon continues to work as a contemporary storyteller to fulfil his goal of “meeting new people and capturing their stories through either realistic or imaginative portrayals”, exemplified through his 2024 performance Talk to Me:AiCV V210 challenging the use of MLM/AI Chatbots being used in a university context alongside his group performance Mangfold exploring self and cultural identity in 2019. Jon additionally took the lead role of Captain Hook in his school musical Pan, a contemporary take on the Peter Pan story – a role he didn’t originally audition for.
